I have flown with and without spades and they help to a certain extent but it seems like they are effective only on the aileron that is being defected upwards as far as assisting goes. Check your roll rate using only ailerons (only if you have a complete inverted setup) at 100mph and again at 125mph and you will feel the spongy feeling in the stick that the telflex cables give.
